Physicians Assessments
Physicians are referred for assessment for a variety of reasons. Dr. Deitch has conducted assessments for medical boards and Physicians Health Programs for the last 10 years. Often physicians are referred due to allegations of problematic sexual behaviors, boundary violations or disruptive physician behavior. The assessment is first to gauge whether there is a need for further intervention or treatment and second the help the physician grow and understand areas of trouble as needed. Assessments are 3 days long and are followed by a lengthy report the gives detailed recommendations. Assessments include a full cognitive, psychological and emotional functioning battery of tests as well as instruments for other areas of interest, including the Abel screen. Assessments generally cost $4,000 not including the cost of polygraph as needed. Therapy sessions for physicians with boundary issues are also available.
Forensic Assessment
When preparing for court whether pretrial or sentencing, it is useful for clients and attorneys to be armed with as much data about the individual as possible. Clients may be confused by their own behaviors and not know what level of care they need. Attorneys may want to ensure that they are advocating in all the potential areas for mitigation that are possible. Having a full psychosexual evaluation completed can help this process. Evaluations contain sexual functioning, sexual interest, emotional, psychological and cognitive functioning. Reports are inclusive of all areas of history, testing and recommendations. Assessments generally cost $4,000 not including cost of polygraph as needed. Other services include reviewing reports to help explain and understand the potential impact and areas of advocacy contained therein. This includes reviewing assessments and potential areas of mitigation already contained in reports to decrease the amount of cost and time spent for clients in assessment.
General Assessment
Often clients and family members are unclear as to whether certain behaviors are problematic or whether there are deeper underlying issues. It is helpful to know when to seek treatment or what level of care is needed. Assessment can help clarify issues around sexual functioning, mental health concerns and cognitive issues. Assessments costs vary depending on the nature of the question.
